Overview

The Council’s Entrepreneurial Series provides growing companies with an inside track to starting a business. The Cluster holds regular meetings bringing together companies, entrepreneurs, investors and experts involved in the formation of technology companies. It is directed by a steering committee consisting of investors, advisors and experienced entrepreneurs with deep expertise in all aspects of raising capital.

Advisory Board members include: James Geshwiler, Common Angels (co-chair); Murray Berkowitz, Kodiak Venture Partners; Phil Ernst, Silicon Valley Bank; Bill McHale, Argo Global Capital; Jeffrey Stoler, McCarter English.

Meetings address issues such as:

1. How to prepare a company for investment: fundamentals such creating the business model, forming the management team, setting strategy; how to do presentations to investors; preparing business plans and executive summaries

2. Navigating the investment process: Connecting with potential investors; negotiation of terms; deal points and their long and short-term effects.

3. Capital formation at all stages of a company’s life, from start-up through liquidity event.

4. Updates on the current investment climate; trends and capital sources.

Participants in the Cluster will have the opportunity for ongoing conversations and networking.

 

MassTLC teams with AT&T to provide New England developers a chance to win $10k and exposure for their wireless applications!

On Monday, August 18, Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council and AT&T announced a new initiative to find the best wireless application in New England. The contest, named AT&T's "Fast-Pitch New England" is the first locally-based mobile application contest in the company's history. It offers New England based developers a chance to win $10,000, promotion of their application online and exposure in more than 120 AT&T company-owned retail locations throughout the region. Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2008 and three finalists will be announced on October 22, 2008. Finalists will be invited to present their applications & business plans to a panel of AT&T leadership, venture capitalists, global handset providers, and other industry influencers on November 12 in Framingham, MA. All interested MassTLC members are encouraged to learn more about the event here, and to attend the event on November 12.
